Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What is XGrade?

A visible-condition laboratory. You upload photos. We record what is visible and apply a published formula. We do not take the card, slab it, or authenticate it.

Is this an official PSA, BGS, or CGC grade?

No. We are not affiliated with those companies. The large number is an XGrade assessment. The projected professional range is where a slab house is most likely to land on the physical card. It is not a promise from them.

How accurate are you?

We do not publish a single accuracy percent. A photo-only system cannot see the physical card. We publish checkpoints, deductions, and hard caps instead. Incomplete photos cannot produce a gem.

Why isn’t my card a 10?

Gem 10 requires excellent unsleeved both-side photos, all four corners visible and 10, all subgrades 10, front ≤55/45, back ≤75/25, evidence ≥ 90%, no glare, no sleeve. Any miss caps at 9.5 or lower.

What if I do not photograph the back?

Without a photo of the back of the card, we will not issue above 9.

What if a corner is not in the photo?

It scores 7. It is not assumed sharp. Two or more unseen corners cap the report at 8.

Which cards do you support?

Any trading card you can photograph: sports, TCG, vintage or modern. We do not default to a game. We do not use licensed art in samples.

Do holos and foils work?

Yes, if you can photograph them without disabling glare. Glare caps at 9. A glare-blind “10” is not an assessment.

How should I light the card?

Even, diffuse light. Unsleeved. Square to camera. All four corners in frame. See the photograph page.

How long does a report take?

Usually under a minute after you submit, depending on the vision model. The formula itself is instant.

What does a report cost?

The website and sample are free. A live inspection uses the xAI vision model and is billed to the operator’s API key (typically a few cents per card). Signed-in users are capped at eight reports per day.

Can I put my shop name on the cert?

Yes. Issued by {shop} · Assessed by XGrade. Same inspector.

Is the report public?

Yes. The ID is the verify URL. Anyone can reopen it. If the photos are not the card being sold, the report does not apply.

Do you have an API?

Not as a public product yet. The protocol is already documented so another implementation can be checked against it.

Should I still send a card to PSA?

If you need an official holder, population, or marketplace convention — yes. Use XGrade first so you are not paying to confirm what the photos already showed.
